The wedding toast is the perfect opportunity for loved ones to share their well wishes with the happy new couple. Sure, the toast bearer may share a humorous story about the couple and how they met, but more often than not, Christian wedding toasts will include a Bible verse specifically for the couple that the toast bearer had in mind. This means planning on the toast bearer’s part. He or she doesn’t just shoot from the hip on this occasion, but he or she has thought about what to say, has written it down, has practiced it, and delivers it perfectly. The Christian wedding toast will remind the couple of the promises they just made before God and family. It will remind the couple that no matter what troubles they may face, they are not a cord of two strands but a cord of three, with God as the third party walking with them in every trial and every celebration. The religious wedding toast and specifically Christian wedding toasts focuses just as much on God as it does the couple. It omits the crass stories that often accompany secular toasts, and it gives the couple some real meat to chew on as they enjoy the rest of their reception.
